Deep Dive: The Clinical Data Associate Role
The CDA is the guardian of data quality in clinical trials, ensuring that the information used to evaluate new therapies is accurate, complete, and reliable.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Cleaning & Review: Perform meticulous review of clinical data to identify discrepancies, issue queries to investigative sites, and apply necessary corrections as per the Data Management Plan (DMP).
Vendor Data Reconciliation: Manage and reconcile critical data from external vendors (e.g., Central Labs, IVRS/IWRS) against the clinical database to ensure consistency.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Develop test data and rigorously test Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems to validate data entry screens and edit checks before study go-live.
Quality Control (QC): Conduct internal QC checks and peer reviews on data management deliverables to maintain the highest quality standards.
Documentation & Reporting: Assist in developing and updating essential trial documents like the Data Management Plan (DMP) and CRF Completion Guidelines. Run and review data cleaning reports to track progress.
Collaboration & Leadership: Coordinate the work of other CDAs on the project and provide project-specific training, showcasing leadership potential.

Essential Qualifications:

Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) is mandatory. Hands-on experience with Inform EDC is highly preferred.

Familiarity with startup environments and CPT/Metrics.
